I've come to the conclusion that my current car won't last past the end of the night (thank god) and I've been looking at buying a truck so that I could use it when I, 1) go down to Florida at the end of the year for school and 2) would be nice to use at my new job in 18 months when I go into motorcycle repair.

I've found 2 that suit my needs (8 ft bed, automatic, 6 cylinder min.) and I'm having a hard time choosing between the 2.

There's the Chevy and the Ford.

I like the Ford styling, but I can't ignore the Chevy's lack of mileage. However, I don't know if the Chevy's leaf springs would be enough to hold my bike (which weighs 600+) plus my fat ass. The Chevy also has that damn plastic wrap-around foor mat that they use in the back seat of police crusiers.

I was also trying to keep the price around $8k, but if I have to I can save up for another couple of months to make a larger down payment. Opinions, advice, truths, lies, insults are welcome...

Ford. The only American vehicle I would dare trust. Chevy is Mexican made crapola. After my horrid experiences with my GMC Jimmy (not only was it terribly unreliable, but service techs were stupid motherf***ers, service advisors were a-holes, and Corporate was a bunch of dickwads), my taste for domestics has permanently been soured.

I have 85,000 miles on my Toyota Tundra and I haven't had a single major problem yet, knock on wood.

Have you ever looked at where Ford engines are make? Chevy engine blocks have not been casted in Mexico for a few years.

Yep, you need to go full size.

Honestly, it's a toss up Ford or Chevy, as far as brands. I like the Chevy you're linking to because it has less miles on it.

Have you thought about riding down there, shipping your stuff & looking @ what you can pick up down there?

I like your bikes, have you tinkered with the jetting/pipes/intake?

I actually just went back to the stock pipes but kept the jet kit, so I'm running slighly rich. The old pipes (Vances/Hines supersport) were so rusted through at the 4/-2 connection that my mechanic was able to break them apart just by prying them with his hands.

I have looked down in Florida, and for the most part, the trucks cost more

Nothing like tuning a relatively large Honda bike engine:D

How about a full size van?

Thought about it, but there's something about a van that just makes me say, 'ahhhh...........
