No, as far as I know the check engine light has not come on, but I could have missed it. The only warning we are getting is the multi function display says engine oil life 28 percent.

This thread is a tragedy in the making....but against my better judgement I offer you this piece of advice: You should definitely paint the exaust.

That is just the oil change reminder. It's irrelevant unless reset every time the oil is changed.
You need a scanner to get the codes from the computer. Anything else is guesswork.

All I have access to is 50 weight motor oil for diesel engines. Will that hurt it? It gets down to about 30 at night here.

Any other suggestions on maintenance I can do without a source of parts would be helpful. I have already been blowing out the air filter we have now with a compressor.

Is it running well in general? Does it ONLY stall in reverse? Does it stall immediately once the lever hits the "R" setting or ?

How exactly are you proposing to fix the problem with nothing but motor oil and an air compressor?
 
Tell your superiors that they need to get a contract with Ford instead of GM. That won't fix this now, but it will in the future.

If you can't do diagnostics that's a good place to start. Dunno how well 50w oil will substitute for TB cleaner though 🙂
