YACT: My new, sexy baby!

Well, it's new to me! Got a 1995 Maxima with 116K miles on it for $3000 ($3500 after taxes, title, etc) at a dealer auto auction. Great buy I think, although you always chance it when buying at an auction, but at a dealer auction you know you're getting rock bottom price.

Anyways, car had a few bulb problems which I took care of. Next on the agenda is fixing the driver side mirror, which is being held up with electical tape. The speakers are sh*t too... it's an NY car so im guessing someone swapped the speakers before they sold it. I definately gotta hook a system up in here too.

Looking past those minor inconviences, I think it's a great deal. It runs smooth as butter, and im going to get at least 100-150 K miles out of it. Did I mention i love Maximas... esp the red ones!

GXE is the base model, that's what it looks like. Nice car. 🙂 Welcome to the wonderful world of Maxima's! Now you gotta join maxima.org.

Welcome to the maxima club! Did they get a Maaco paintjob (Is the maxima lettering supposed to be the same color as the car?)

EDIT:

You must now do the following:

1. Send Skoorb a PM to join Nissan Fanbois
2. Join maxima.org
3. Buy a FSTB (front strut tower bar) for about $10 on ebay, really improves handling
4. Do all the free mods (perma-cruise control, make your clock always light up, etc)
5. Clean your throttle body butterfly thing with a toothbrush / brake cleaner.
6. Oh, this is a new car, so go ahead and change the oil, flush the coolant, put in new air and fuel filters, and spark plugs. You might as well spend the $100 to service the tranny.

Thats not the GXE.

Thats the SE, or sport edition. C'mon even i know that and I hate maximas.

Actually, it has the SE wheels and the wing (if you remember, GXE and GLE models had different wheels), could be a poser base model....

I have the next generation SE, I'm not too familiar with the earlier models.

It's an SE because of the rims, the body coloured door handle, and the non-chrome front grill.

Nice car, you'll enjoy it. Is it an auto or manual?

Also did hte car come with front clear corners?

Auto, shifts like a Mercedes!... everything you see in the pics is what I paid for .

1. Haha!
2. Trying... their system isnt sending me any emails
3. I'll check that out.
4. Hmmm.. did you say free? Perma cruise control?
5. I'm not much a mechanic, what does this do?
6. Oil was changed recently....all that other stuff i'll need to do. I'm gonna have to get a tune-up for it anyways.

Also get the rear sway bar. That with the FSTB makes quite a difference in the handling of the car. It makes the car feel much more stable on the highway and on/off-ramps. Also it tightens up the steering (the FSTB).

Note the rear sway bar does make the car oversteer if you turn too hard, so if that's not your thing, then don't get it.

Enjoy the car, it's a blast to drive....although I don't agree with your comment on the auto tranny. It's not all that great, (I have the same one in the 99 max).

Also do you live in Canada? If so, you just got the only affordable 4 door V6 sedan with a Viscous Limited Slip Differential (VLSD). What it does is that it sends power to one of the front wheels if the other one is slipping (spinning faster than it should be).

Cliff notes? It lets you get out of a corner faster. 🙂
