My friend is looking to spend around $2500 in the next few months on a used car. Here are the things he described to me that he wanted in the car: somewhat powerful (hes moving up from a '92 prizm, so take that with a grain of salt), good gas mileage, decent looking, lower mileage, and reliable. I thought a CRX would be a good choice but there arent many in our area, and i dont know the pricing on them very well. What would you recommend?

There's a saying I've heard a lot: If you want something, you can have it fast, cheap, or good...pick 2.

i bought a 92 Nissan Sentra SE-R for $2800 last year. 140HP, limited slip differential, decent gas mileage (i get 27mpg highway, others have gotten 40!), Mid to high 15's stock. SR20DE engine is almost bullet proof as long as you keep oil in it. Oh and Car and Driver 10 Best for all the years it was produced (91-94)

I would suggest a Buick Lesabre with a 3800 V6 and automatic overdrive. I have a 92 Lesabre Limited and it gets 23mpg or so all around driving. The engine and transmission are very reliable. I paid less than $2000.00 including tax title and transfer. Very dependable cars. I recommend the GM 3800 V6. It comes in a variety of cars made by Buick, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet. The 3.1 V6 isn't a bad moter either.

You didn't mention if he wants 2dr or 4dr. I had a 90 Chevy Lumina and it had 274,000 give or take a few miles on it when it finally died on me. When I got it it had about 140,000 miles on it.
