Those pics do make me sad, but at least those cars went doing what they were meant to do: Go fast and provide enjoyment for many people.

No love for trailer queens.

what happened?
I got that it was a race and that there were "agressive drivers" (imagine that, it's a race  ) but I still don't understand how that pileup happened...

From reading the comments, it looks like the front row jumped the start before they saw a green flag and when they got to the line and didn't see it, they hit the brakes. At RA, the hill at the start puts a giant blind spot infront of you if anyone is slowed/stopped, so no one could see the front row slow and *bam*, pileup.

The drivers shouldn't have been so aggressive out of the last corner and the flagger should have thrown the green earlier.

I wonder what the net $ in damage was. I feel sorry for all those guys.

Looks like from the sound of it, some people tried to lay back and jump the restart to get an advantage, but the lead guys hadn't taken the green, so they were still doing pace speed... When the jumpers realized what happened, they tried to slow up, and got plowed into, setting up a nasty little chain reaction.

It might have been the other way around though... Leads tried to jump the green and then checked up when they didn't get the flag, and it was a chain reaction behind them. Not too sure, but those seem to be the two versions I got out of reading.

What a bunch of idiots. It seems like they don't have very strict rules on this kind of thing from what most people are saying, and that's a shame because it caused a heck of a disaster.
