YACT. Might be buying another car tonight

slag

Lifer
$250.00.

needs 2 tires and 2 front cv joints ($59.99 apiece for the joints)

Body a bit rusty, but its All wheel drive, engine runs great, and has AC.

WOOT, winter beater car, here I come!

yeah that AC will come in really handy for those blistering hot winter days.

Defroster uses the AC to remove moisture from the air its blowing. You don't need it, but it makes it work better.

Does that have the turbo like the Celica Alltracs did? I know they put the same motor in those as in my MR-2. Fun cars.

nope, no turbo. I'm told its a dog, but who cares.. for under $400.00, I'm going to have a cool all wheel drive weather beater so my truck and my summer beater, (96 max) dont get hurt.

lol... make sure it passes state inspection

No state inspection for kansas if purchased in state. If purchased out of state, all they do is check the vin to make sure it looks legit.

Can't beat $250 either way. I bought an '82 Celica GT for $300 years ago with over 200k on it, sold it to a buddy for a profit, and it now has 250k on it and still runs fine. Beater Toyotas are a force to be reckoned with.

Went ahead and bought the car.

1 rusted out spot near the fuel tank door (co worker has the same rusted spot on his), and 2 small places where the paint is bubbling a bit but the price was right.

I paid $200.00 for it. Everything seems to work except its missing the passenger's side mirror glass.

All power windows and locks work, AC, stereo, havent tried cruise yet, etc.

I have 2 pics but they were with my cell phone this morning and are really crummy. I'll take some tonight.

On a side note, it has the 2.0 liter dohc pumping out 115 hp, not the 2.2 liter engine, but it still has a decent amount of pep for a car tht needs a tuneup.

Today I bought new front halfshafts, axleshafts, ujoints, driveshafts, whatever you call them in your part of the country, new fuel, oil, air, and tranny filter (wix of course), oil, plugs, wipers, etc.

Actually, i ordered them and will pick them up tomorrow or Friday after work so I can get this car up and running better. It idles great, but I think I can give it more power with a simple tune up and run some sea-foam through the engine

ok, how did you pull this off? Even for an 89.... $250?!?!? that'd be great for my bro.. heh

local message board, larryville.com

My dad wants it for my sister but I am either going to drive it or fix it up and sell it for $800.00 or so.
I'm on call for my work this weekend, but if I can spend a couple days on the car, cleaning it up, tuning it up, etc, then its going to be a cheap money maker.

5-speed or auto? That sounds like a cool car. I *kind of* miss my RWD '85 Celica. I sold it for $2,000 in November. A kid and his father drove up from South Carolina and gave me cash on the spot.

sadly its an auto

However, it has electronic rear differential lockup, push button od on/off, and something called ECT power which I think changes the shift points for more power.

shrug.. its a pretty comfortable car to drive so far.
