YACT: Mazda 3 or Mitsu Eclipse

Especially after sitting in the new Eclipse yesterday, definitely the Mazda3 (I prefer the 5-door). Feels like they actually made the Eclipse interior smaller than previous gen and reliability has always been weak.
 
For a girl without a family I'd go with the Eclipse. I think they are dead sexy and it is a perfect "girl" car as I'm guessing she is looking at the 4cyl rather than the V6.

You need to compare the GT with the up and coming Mazdaspeed 3, not with a 3s.

except for the price. i doubt they'll sell the mazdaspeed 3 for under $25k. the eclipse GT is $24k...

actually, i think one of these might be better if you're looking for a fun drive.

Good for her, it's a sweet car that is very quick and handles well. I like the futuristic looks as it's different and breaking the mold. For the cost if equal, I get a 4cyl Spyder over the V6.

Good for her, it's a sweet car that is very quick and handles well. I like the futuristic looks as it's different and breaking the mold. For the cost if equal, I get a 4cyl Spyder over the V6.

in all honesty, buy whatever you like best, but i think the mazda3 will be a better value.
