YACT: Lugnuts on tires are tough to crack..

Apparently, it won't turn. What to do? What can tire places do to get it off and how much am I looking at? Losing the nut doesn't matter, as long as it get removed.

The thing is, it's my cousin's car. We're gonna drive to Portland from Minneapolis tomorrow and he wants to put his stock tires on. He got these lug nut keys so people won't jack his rims and now one of the keys is all screwed up and doesn't have grip anymore.

Used WD40 and that's it.

Stupid impact guns:| One reason I'll go back to the place I last bought tires is that they use a torque wrench to install the lugs and if you ask they won't use a gun to remove them either. Its nice when you're a rice boy like me a using lightweight lugs (that specifically say not to use a gun with).

Yea - have you tried using lube? Also - are you using a T wrench to undo the lugs, or the stock piece of crap that came with the car? T-bar makes things much easier.

Need more leverage.

Find a pipe that fits snug over the ratchet handle.

That will work, but make sure it's not a pipe over a torque wrench 🙂

Information that should have been in the original post...

:disgust:😕

Well.. that would be pretty dumb.

Although, if you knew the length of the bar, you could still compensate. 😉

It never ceases to amaze me how people can ask for help and always leave out the one detail that totally changes the situation.

wtf? Why the hell didn't you say that in the first place? That's a lot different than a normal lugnut not coming off. Have him take it to where he got the rims mounted and have them "fix" it.

Wow, you bought into the whole 'lightweight lugs' thing. You are a tool. You do realize that the weight nearest to the outside of the rim is the rotational weight that matters most, right?

I needed new lugs for the wheels anyway:roll:

Tool schmool. For those of us with aftermarket wheels, most "tuner" lugs are of the lightweight variety. You should recommend us a set of heavyweight lugs, just so we don't fall into your "tool" category.

His H22 swapped car makes up for that little mistake
