I have this honda in mind, it's 2500. it has 186k original miles on the car, they just replaced the engine so with new engine it's 45k. they also just replaced the clutch. has nice stereo system.

LOL QFT.

The count of ricer flybys on that Civic would proably cause overflow on a 32-bit integer.

If you don't need a car, I wouldn't buy it. If you need a car, you can find the American counterpart with better condition. Or Toyota Corolla....they goes for decent price.

I don't need one, I have a chrysler lebaron that is serving me alright for the moment, but I am in the market for a new car. I am looking for a toyota camry, honda civic, or a toyota corolla.

so I'm guessing it's really not worth the 2500 and could end up costing me more in the long run?

Definitely, I say you first do a search on autotrader or a similar site by your budget and then while looking through cars, you will see what you like. Once you have done that, you can decide on what you need, then comes reliability and future costs and such.

Judging from your first post, I say you look for a mid-nineties civic.

Then why would you look into a 13yr old car if you already have a beater???

what do you mean?

my lebaron is from 1987 and I'm going off to college soon, I'll be needing a car that'll get good gas mileage and will get me to and from chicago ( 90 miles)

He means you are going from a beater you know to a beater you don't know. The three cars you are aiming for are over priced and most of the ones you will find for $2500 are going to have high miles on them. Might want to look into a late 90s Ford Escort, yeah thats right an escort. They are reliable and worthless so you can pick up a 98/99 with under 100k on them for under $2k fairly easy. Those old 4 banger chryslers aren't exactly unreliable either and get decent mileage, should be near 30 with the lebaron. My beater is an old 89 4 banger caravan with 160k miles on it. Now if yours is the mitsu 3.0l v6 with the horrible 4 speed auto yeah I can see why you might be worried 🙂.

If you want a "fun" car, howbout buying an old convertible roadster. Although the Miata is considered a feminine car, it's also extremely fun to drive.

As somebody that just bought a miata if you find one for $2500 its going to be a 1990 model with 250k miles on it. Overpriced as hell too.
