YACT: Lincoln LS and reliability

I have looked and lincoln is in the top 5 for reliability but I have read mixed reviews about the reliability of the Lincoln LS. Anybody have one or can comment on one? I am looking at a used one since they depreciate quickly, I can get a loaded V8 for a low price. I am looking at an entry level luxury.

Have you checked out the Buick Park Avenue? Depreciates like mad, great reliability. Don't know how the luxury angle compares with the Lincoln.

Looked at getting one but settled on a nissan maxima instead a couple years back.

Great looking cars, very very slow to shift. 50/50 weight distribution made it fun to drive, but the shift lag was so horrible.

This happened on all 3 cars I drove, after they received the computer flash to "fix" the shift issue they had.

Interior room is not as much as a 2003 maxima.

I dont remember much more except thinking I'd get one in 5 or so years when they worked the bugs out. They are so computerized that you literally cannot do anything on them yourself

I liked the LS when it came out because it was a nice RWD car with an available manual transmission (V6 only), something that was really only available from BMW at the time.

I haven't heard anything bad about them. But the same chassis is used for the midsize Jaguar, so it might not start in the rain😉

I would have never guessed Lincoln had such great reliability - all I ever hear about is Japanese cars (Toyota, Lexus) - but them again, I don't know much about cars

I wouldn't mind having an LS V8 RWD  Dunno about reliability tho, at heart it is still a Ford....

Not brand-bashing, but I wouldn't trust a Ford......

I know the Lincoln LS very well and they are a great car just be sure to buy a 2001 or later vehicle. The 2000s had some growing pains that weren't ever resolved well enough in my humble opinion.

The Cadillac CTS is too much money for too little car in my personal view. But the Seville STS was a great car for the price.

Rigth now the CTS can be had for 28K. Same price as some other lower end mid-sized cars. great bang for the buck right now.

280 hp, nice roomy interior, handsome body, go for it. Plus they're taking it out of production line so you can be sure there's never going to be a newer LS to eclipse yours 🙂

I've rented a bunch of them - great power, great handling, extremely sexy sounding V8, very comfortable. Fine car. Never had a single problem with the ones I've rented FWIW. I'd be happy to own one.

love the LS. it seems to be one of those often overlooked gems. it's certainly not perfect, but it offers a RWD platform with either a V6 manual (getrag at that) or a nice V8, for a cheap price. they look sweet, too. and they're unique, because not too many people have them or even think of them when they're shopping for a car like this. i don't know of what issues it has, but if it's cheap enough to buy and you work on it yourself, it may be a great choice.

Um, spongy suspension-ed SC'd V6? No thanks. I'll take sport suspension V8 Lincoln

Steer clear of a 2000 or 2003 model and you should be ok. If you can get an 02, my guess is that it will be the most reliable aside from 2004+
