YACT: Lets make this a good one

Frequently, champions of punctuality with regards to automotive-related info such as the well known "NFS4? post links to a variety of vehicles with either get toasted or burnt by the forum. These vehicles range from modern day super cars to daily drivers and utility trucks. All throughout, peoples tastes vary greatly, and I would like everyone to demonstrate their affinity for certain styles here, for my amusement

I would like to see, from past until present, what vehicles people have fallen in love aesthetically, more so than for any other reason, and that continue to define automotive beauty for them today. Keep in mind that posting something such as a Ferrari, Porsche GT, or a Mercedes SLR, because of their astounding popularity, will require details as to why you like the vehicle?s style.

PAST:

Cunningham C-3

I am infatuated with the design of this vehicle for a variety of reasons. First, I am a fan of the ?loafer? design where the cockpit area is kept quite small with respect to the hood and the engine bay as a whole. Also, from war away, the cars design seems quite simple which I like. The grill grabs some attention, but as a whole, it has a rather large hood, and a 1940s sloping rear that has a hit of rectangularity. Once you approach it, that which was subtle now captures your attention. Every line or ?crease? on it is done to completion. There are no jagged edges, no isolated changes in design, and almost every part of the vehicle goes well with any other part of the rest.

Certain cars such as the late Porsches are somewhat different but captivating as well. This 1955 Porsche, strikingly similar to the one Kelly McGillis drove in ?Top Gun? is also one of my favorites. From the sweeping creases that seem to pull the bug-like lights up a foot from the hood to the unconventional rear-sloping walls, I have always found this car to be one of the most beautiful of years past. In general, the cars design mixes both curvature and rectangularity very well.

GT40
GT-40

Much newer than the rest is the GT40. I must admit that I cannot ignore its glorious history in the LeMans, but aside from that, I still think that this is one of the most beautiful vehicles ever made. While I love the headlights, which are of the same inspiration as on the C-3 and the 355 Speeder, the car as a whole is different, but in a good way. While the proud side intakes show off on the side, the subtle shark-like or perhaps snake-like grin in the front and the cockpit nestled in the middle remind you that this car is deceiving it its appearance. You sort of expect to be let down by is performance due to its outlandishly unorthodox design, and yet, as well all know, that is not true😉.

300sl

Finally, I leave you with a car that you might be quite familiar with: the 300SL. This one started it all for me. The rear is fantastic. It manages to maintain the crease of the front headlights, the rectangularity of the chassis, and the round shape characteristics of boots in those days. The profile of this car makes me go mad. While the ?loafer? style is prevalent, it combines beautifully with the side flares and the doors. The side however, has its own charm as chrome accents and sweeping lines make what would seemingly be a simple design extraoadinary.
