So here I sit.
my keys are locked in the car, the locksmith is on the way, the car is running now for over half an hour. the spare set of keys is in the car because i never leave the car running without being locked by the spare keyfob.

was going to be nice and early for work, now i've called in cause i'm gonna be late.
what a pain in the ass.

and on top of that, I don't have $30 to pay the guy when he comes!

It's saved me once or twice.

I am going to seperate the spare keys, and the key fob.

I MYSELF don't have this problem..... someone else thought they'd do me a favour by starting the car to let it warm up and this is what happened.

I did this once only to realize my parents were out shopping and my car was still running. 15 minutes goes by and the neigbor comes out. He couldnt jimmy the lock and i thought about breaking the windows.

parents showed up minutes later and i was relieved!

yea and a spare key for my car is $90

lucky!
this won't happen in my case! heh... but someone is being dispatched from the dealership and coming to open up the car. (I think they are just sending out a sub-contractor)

Last time this happened to me I had the hood up, so I just pulled spark plug wires until it stalled out. 😛

You should have gotten one of those magnetic key containers. I've got them in both my cars. They've saved me more than a few times especially with my stupid Honda which would lock itself automatically after a few minutes. This would always happen in garages where they leave my car sitting there turned off.

no WAY i'd ever do that. say you get locked out once at the grocery. someone see's you grab your magnetic key. next time you go to get some milk BOOM car's gone 🙁

I just put a key behind my license plate then all I need is a screw driver. Also I don't care if someone takes the vehicle.

Which is why you hide it. You can put it anywhere underneath the car.

I have a spare in my wallet. I never ever leave my place without my wallet. It has saved me more than once.

That's why I keep a spare key in my wallet. It's extremely rare that I lock my keys in my car, and it's rare that I take my wallet out while in my car. So the chances of locking my wallet AND keys in my car is something that has yet to happen. With a key in my wallet, locking my keys in my car isn't even a big deal, I just take my wallet out, pull the key out, and unlock the door.

Good advice. I do the same same thing after suffering thru the same as the OP.

FIDDY F*KEN DOLLARS FOR THE MECHANIC TO JIMMY IT OPEN

no choice, gf lock us out while i was pumping gas and she wanted to watch

$30 is dirt cheap, the first time I did that it cost me $90 to get back into my car.

And for those who have considered breaking a window:

Unless it's an emergency (as in someone is going to bleed to death if you don't drive) you're much better off just paying the locksmith. Windows aren't cheap, even it's running the locksmith + a full tank of gas is going to be cheaper than a window.
