I did not have time to drive it, but I looked under the hood and sat inside and revved the engine. Here are my initial impressions:

  • Looks WAY better than a Neon should look.
The front grill and hood have a very mean look that says "Dodge" It's like the Vipers wiry little brother...
Has some Cool tires - look more like sneaker bottoms than tires.
Stock 17" inch wheels are very nice
Painted brake calipers look cheap - they are just painted to be cool for their target market
The huge spoiler is standard but fortunately is easily removed (4 screws)
The engine is nicely laid out - Doesn't look like it would be impossible to work on (but what do I know...)
The engine sounds a LOT stronger than a 4-banger has the right to sound like
The interior looks cheap... REALLY cheap
The gauges and shift lever are in a faux brushed steel finish that is WAY more faux than steel.
The "racing" seats are to thin for a 6'0" 185 man. A 5'10" 160lb kid would be just fine.
The $800 stereo may sound good (didn't listen) but the Kicker sub in the trunk looks like my nephew made it out of lego...
I'd love to go for a drive and see what it is like off the line and in the turns, but I already know that I wouldn't buy this car... not by a long shot....

At least the 2004 model alleviates some of the extra-nasty torque steer the little sucker has, but you're right - it still has the overall "build quality" of a riced-out Neon.

want to "test drive" the interior? Just go down to your local rental car agency and get a stock neon. It'll be the same thing!

uhh your an idiot... Why don't you do ANY kind of research before you flame. Seriously, do ANY research.

The "racing" seats are to thin for a 6'0" 185 man. A 5'10" 160lb kid would be just fine.

I'm 6'3", 195 and they are exactly how oem racing seats should be... Racing seats are not for comfort, but for support, dumbass. Go sit in some ricaros and tell me your comfy. A racing seat is not supposed to be a la-z-boy.

Hey pal, take the stick out of your ass. It is affecting your ability to think rationally...

Did I say I was thinking of buying this car to take it to the track? No
Did I say that the racing seats were highly functional for racing? No

I said they were uncomfortable. I wouldn't buy a car to drive every day that had uncomfortable seats.

Me thinks he's just mad because he paid $20k+ for a Neon HAHAHAHA

Yes yes yes, but it'st still a Neon. ;) RSX and Celica interiors much more livable IMO.
Would I buy one if it was a second car and I intended on taking it to the track? yes.

Yes, but the Integra, Civic, and Celica will still be running after 100k miles...

I'm 6'3" 245 and I sat in one today while my truck was in the shop. I like the little sucker. I fit comfortably in the seats, but I lacked headroom. Ditch the moonroof and I'd be just fine. It felt very comfortable. If I could find one without a moonroof, I'd take it out for a spin. Hitting my head on the roof isn't all that comfortable.

The sick thing is that it has about the same horsepower as the 360 V8 in my truck.

And they'll still have paint on them.

You can get it without the viper seats and chrysler knows what they are doing when it comes to turbo engines. The engines are very well made.

If you don't like the seats, order the car with the regular R/T seats with side impact airbags.

I don't know why you guys think the interior is so cheap... compare to a car in it's class... GM especially... crap!

I totally agree
they can put down 300+WHP EASY with full reliability.

They just blew up a srt4 with stock internals over on the srt4forums and it was making around 530hp and 540ft-lbs. I didn't read to whole thread to see what actually killed it but the owner was guessing it was the #3 piston.

Hmm, ionno about you but the interior of the Focus is pretty decent. And I need not mention Civic/Corolla/Mazda3/etc.

IMO, lasting to 530 whp is pretty damned amazing. I could live with 300-400 whp as a daily driver and be happy.

As for this stupid interior quality argument, fivespeed5, some people really don't care as long as the seats are comfortable and the dash doesn't crack. You want a fancy interior, buy a BMW. Otherwise, STFU already. A Celica or RSX interior is nothing to brag about.

that's the point, some people DO care... but if you want a fancy interior you don't necessarily need to buy a BMW, just something with a better interior than a Neon.

You spend 90% INSIDE the car, so why not get something you'll enjoy?
