So I test drove an 03 (asking $27000) and felt that the manny tranny was notchy to say the least. On some shifts, I clearly felt a "thunk!". Is this normal?

Gears engaged just fine. The throw was smooth but the shifter felt clunky on engagement. I recognize that it is a sport sedan but come on, my manny tranny in my 13 yr old Stanza shifts smoother. Other than that, its a tight handling little sedan. I guess I'll have to test-drive a different one. 😛

I've driven the manual IS as well. It's pretty much the worst linkage I've ever driven. The 3-4 shift was especially awkward. Notchy is a good word.

That, as well as a weak I6 engine with poor gas mileage and a harsh ride with high tire noise at speed, totally disxouraged me from that car.
