Go watch Top Gear, they'll tell you everything you know about a boxter, some of them are already posted by some people here.
The Boxster is not a "chick" car. It's a high performance roadster, just like all of the others. It still costs almost $50,000 - people will think you have money.

i just look at it as a practical porsche. although i think a 350Z convertible or a S2000 will be a better value.

actually the 'cheap' Cayman is turning heads in performance circles...
My favorites are 930 turbo and the 944 T (952)...I would have bought a 1987/88 Turbo S or 1989 Turbo if I could find one under $20k that didn't need about 1/2 that to restore fully. I do love my 1998 240SX SE though....just need to turbo-charge it now. 🙂
My brother is about to buy a 993 (Carrera 2). Many think that is a 'fake' too, considering the turbo is easily 50% more new and used. It still turns a sub 5 sec 0-60 time though and can approach 200mph pretty close. Buying into these cars though has insane maintenance costs.
I know a few guys that have exotics and their normal maintenance is 4 figures, and god save you if you need a clutch. To paraphrase: "Never buy a car you f'k with that requires a motor out clutch replacement...not only will this bleed you, you will find nicks and scratches you know where never there."
I am done buying new cars and cars I see even weekly. With only about 2500 of my model sold in two years and even less being white and a "SE"....I have a rare car.
personally though I see most of the recent 2 seater verts as miatas. Just not a man's car to me, although I don't hate anyone with one. I am sure they are nice and fun.
Yes, because a $50k+ car is a "cheap entry level car." Would you say the same for a Gallardo since it's the cheapest new Lambo?
Seriously, even to comfortably afford a Boxster you still have to be fairly well off. You might be surprised to learn that there are wealthy people out there that want a fun car but don't have to buy the best of the brand; it's people like you that impose such superficial notions.
