YACT: interior brake noises

rh71

No Lifer
What does it mean when, after driving a lot of stop-and-go for a bit, pressing the brake results in a "creaking" noise ? Am I low on some fluid or something ? The sound is coming from the brake pedal area itself.

EDIT>> (Grammar)

Several possibilities :

(1)Brake pedal pivot needs lubricating

(2)Master cylinder bore worn

(3)Brake light switch creaking

(4)Brake booster worn

(5)Master cylinder/firewall bolts loose

(6)Boiling brake fluid from excessive brake temps which can be caused by the following ;

Stuck calipers

Binding shoes (drum brakes)

Hard baking

Loose wheel bearings

Does your brake pedal become spongy ?

This assumes that the noise is truly coming from inside the vehicle.
