YACT: i need me a new car...

so...
my current car: a 1995 ford taurus is on her way out. 100,000+ miles and it has become increasingly more expensive than it is worth to continue to repair.

anyway
i was doing some preliminary thinking/research and i find myself contemplating the corolla (probably CE)
im basing this on:
1. relativly inexpensive vehicle.
2. decent milage (40 mpg apparently)
3. how long it will last me.

now, knowing thats what im looking for (also: i want a car. not a truck or light truck or SUV or whatever new fancy name they have now) does anyone have any other suggestions?
debunking of my thoughts on the corolla?

good anantech versions of car websites would also be welcome.

thanks for anything you got to give.

What about a motorcycle 😉

I think something like a camry would be better if you're bigger then 5'8 140lb. A little more leg room.

Corolla is a good safe bet for sure, but we need more info on your budget and what you're looking for. Are you talking about buying new or used? Are your only concerns fuel economy and reliability? If so I'd say Corolla/Camry/Civic/Accord are all very easy answers.

I would look into a Miata. They're a lot more fun to drive, the insurance is quite cheap, and new ones can be had for $16k or so.

Honda Civic HX
Base Mazda 3 (not as high MGP, ~34 highway)
VW TDI variant
Corolla

I'm still skeptical on the hybrids. The cost to payoff isn't worth it to me.

Hit up their "town hall".

corolla is a good choice... you should look into the matrix/vibe as well if you plan to use it as a people/cargo hauler

how about them scions? those are cheap and built by toyota too...

scion tc

or civic best suit your choices

but if you can sacrifice some fuel economy i would definitely go with

a mazda 6i

budget: i CAN spend up to 2500 and feel pretty ok about it.
but i really want to stay below 2000 more around 1500.
well, from the bit of research i did about new/used for the corolla seemed to be about the same. im not too worried about new/used. i dont mind a used but i do drive a lot (NJ)
ill check out the suggestions.
thanks!
