YACT: Hydraulic Clutch fluid keeps foaming

Hey! I found a use for the summary box! Woot!!!

Anyway,
I had a bad clutch master cylinder in the Fiero. Took forever to find a new one, and a series of junkyard ones were worthless. Finally found a new one for $150 (ouch) and put it in.

Bled the fluid clean (took a whole quart of fluid) and it worked awesone - for 2 days. I bleed it again, and the fluid is full of bubbles. Apparently it keeps foaming up. There's no bleed screw on the new master cylinder, so I'm betting there's some air trapped in there since the fluid level never changes and no leaks are to be found.

Each time I bleed it, the thing works for a day or so then goes to mush. Any tips for getting that air out of there?

Thanks!

I know it sounds like a stupid question but there are several ways to do it. Hold on I'll see if I can find an example.

I started with one of the "one man bleeder" kits... Basically a bottle and a hose to the slave cylinder. When that didn't work I bought a vacuum bleeder. Same issue.

I am assuming that you bench bled the master cylinder before installing it ?

As well as can be... There are no bleed screws on this thing. So I ran a pipe from the output back into the reservoir and cycled it several times until it was running clear, then capped them both.

Those links Fredtam listed are addressing some unique crap to Fieros. Because the only bleed screw in the entire system is on the slave cylinder, it makes for some interesting "features". ;)

My dad had an 86 GT he got from someone who owed him money. Working on that we found a lot of "features". We ended up putting a V-8 in it (excellent info at V8Archies) and he drove it for a while. He later sold it to some kid doing a Lambo kit.
