Dad says he got a nice deal for one, it's the 2.7L V6 LXi model and asked if I could find any info on it from the net, does it suck and stuff like that. I didn't really find anything useful with google, so I thought I'd ask for help from the ATOT car enthusiasts. Share your wisdom ;)

...btw, other choices on "the list" are the new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan and Volvo S60.............

A coworker of mine had one, it was pretty nice...I'd take one of the other 2 you listed first.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Saab, but Volvo's are definitly nice, a step above the Chrysler. For the money, the Sebring is a good car, they look classy as well (considering the price, again) :)

The Sebring is definetly good looking and it was very smooth and nice to drive... but if the quality stinks the good looks don't mean sh1t ;) Personally I have no idea of Chrysler's quality.

We're propably going to testdrive the Saab tomorrow and the Volvo on friday... let's see how they compare.

It's not only a mini land yacht, but it's a mini land yacht with FWD. Stay away. Those cars are for middle aged men and teenage girls who think it's a sportscar because it has no roof.

Huh, the Sebring? Trying to be sporty??? The car doesn't look the least bit sporty! You might be confused with the Mitsubishi Eclipse :p

What, pray tell, is a "mini land yacht"?

I thought 'mini' meant small and 'land yacht' was a large car.

Isn't a Sebring a next-generation LeBaron? (The crappiest, wussiest convertible on the planet.)

Those Lebarons could come with a 5spd 175HP engine, so I'm not sure what you're talking about :p And yes, it is the successor to the Lebaron

A land yacht is not just a big car, or else the GTO would be a land yacht. What I meant as that it has a mushy suspension.

i think you're mistaking this for the convertible. this is the 4 door sedan. i have no idea what the differences are in engines, but there's no mistaking this one for a sports car, and it has a roof :)

Edmunds liked it:)

We had a blast behind the wheel of the V6-equipped Sebring and loved its superior road feel and ride comfort. The coupe's unibody design was reworked to offer a 90 percent improvement in bending resistance and a 9 percent increase in twist resistance relative to the previous-generation model; this notched-up rigidity, teamed with an added front strut tower brace and sport-tuned suspension system, translates to superior feel and handling regardless of road conditions. And all this driving enjoyment is contained in a sexy package; .....

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus ES Sedan which is essentially the same car. I love mine. So far the only quality issue I have had has been with the turn signal/multi-switch unit. For some reason, with the headlights on, the dash lights dim and flash as if the switch has a short in it of some kind. I drop it off tomorrow for that warranty repair though. Other than that, it's an awesome car, very smooth, very quiet and very refined. No one that's sat in my car has had anything to say except for "Wow, this is a really nice car." I think the Daimler assisted design helps out a lot. Now I have to get rid of the simulated wood grain dash panels and replace them with the factory carbon fiber ones offered in the R/T sedan version of the Stratus.

BTW, I challenge anyone to say that my 4-door sedan in black with chrome rims and accents isn't a damn fine looking machine, far from being a grocery getter or "grandpa's ride".

Doh! I was thinking of the convertible. I didn't realize that Chrysler started calling the sedan and coupe Sebring too. I think those are good cars. 200hp is pretty nice in a car like that... 33% more than I have! The coupe is the best looking version though.

Well, I'm in love :D

Just came back testdriving the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, 2.0l Turbo. It looks cool as fvck all around, nice black(ish) leather & aluminum interior, suspension was just sporty enough but not too stiff and the engine was just great, there was power available when needed. Am I glad there were no cops on the route :Q :D Damn nice drive overall, imo alot better than the Volvo S60.

Sebring is seriously crap, unless you really wanna own a Chrysler. The interior quality is crappier than more el-cheapo than an old Yugo...:disgust:

You will be much better off with the 9-3 Saab. The Volvo S60 is also quite over-hyped (as are many Volvos)

And when did Edmunds become the holy-grail of car reviews. They are just good to look up some basic specs and prices. They reviews are quite BS...

At least according to you. Are you a Car afficionado or have you had any experience with Chryslers, especially the Sebring? An informed opinion would be appreciated (not that I would have one)

The newer Sebrings, Strati, etc... are all very decent cars, esp for the money. The interior trim isn't as high as their Euro counterparts, but it is still quite functional and very liveable. I'm not too sure about the reliability of the 2.7L V6 but it has plenty of decent power for a basic midsize car.

The handling characteristics of the Sebring are actually quite decent for a "slushboxed FWD open diff POS" due to a fairly stiff and solid chassis base. Better than most cars in it's class certainly. The convertible version also retains a solid body structure according to most car mags. It's not the kind of car that I'd buy even if I had the money because I'm still quite skeptical of DC as a company. Just like most car manufacturers, they are indeed improving their cars and the quality of their build, but a lot of their dealers are so SUCK/EVIL that they may try to screw you over on warranty claims or not notifying you of recalls promptly.

The Saab is decent, but it is under the GM umbrella...

I had a Sebring convertable for two weeks and while it was nice having the convertable it convinced me 100% that there's no way I would buy one. It's just wasn't very impressive in performance, handling, or the way it was put together. No way.
