YACT: How to remove door panel on '01 Sebring...

QED

My wife got in a little accident this morning with the garage door... as she was backing out of the garage, she didn't notice her driver's side mirror being ripped off the by garage door railing.

Anyways, I know have a pile of cheap plastic bits and mirror shards everywhere, but most of the housing of the side mirror is still dangling off of the car by the elecric wires that control the power mirrors. I'd like to remove what remains of the mirror, but apparently I have to remove the driver's side door panel to unclip the wires.

I don't have a Haynes handy... the nearest AutoZone is closed for the day, and my wife needs the car tomorror morning.

So does anyone have any idea how to remove the driver's side door panel?

park car on street.
open car door.
get in other car to race down street.
smack into car door ripping it off.
profit.

Remove the screw in the middle of the pull handle (that you use to close the door).
Remove the screw behind the door handle (that you use to open the door).
Both of these screws are hidden by plastic square flaps. One side of them has a "living hinge". Just carefully use a small flat blade screw driver to lift up on one side of them. If it doesn't open, try a different side.

The bottom of the door panel is anchored by plastic clips, BUT the speaker grill must be removed because the speaker also anchors the door panel. Therefore, you must remove the speaker too. Speaker comes out with four screws (I believe), and it seems to be glued to the bracket.

ALSO!! To replace the outiside mirror, you don't have to remove the door panel! just pop off the black piece on the inside of the door on the "backside" of the mirror. Three screws hold the mirror on.

Good luck!

If you want to stay up late and try to fix this, then be my guest. If it was me however, I would just duct tape/construction adhesive it until you have more time tomorrow.

Thanks... this is exactly what I needed...

New questions... I just popped off the black cover and unscrewed everything... the mirror is now dangling by its electrical cable (which runs inside the door).

Can I just clip this wire for now? I know when I get the new mirror I'll probably have to take the door panel off to connect the power mirror cable... but I'd like to save myself having to disconnect it properly tonight (which would entail removing the door panel and putting it back on)...

Oh... I thought that the electrical connector was behind that black panel. hmmm.
I wouldn't clip the wire. I'd try to locate the connector for it. I just don't know where the connector is.

Good luck!

How long is that wire? Does it connect inside the door or run through the door into the dash? I personally wouldn't clip the wire. I would find out where it runs and disconnect it correctly.
