I agree.

If he is doing it in the proper environment with professional measures, then you won't need to worry about those bumpers again. Unless they get scratched up alot.

Remove paint, prime, paint, paint, paint, seal... if he does all that for both bumpers then I say it's a fair price.

Do you think that the best option would to get these bumpers repainted fully? Or is there a cheaper solution?

Hardly anything, for most cars you can get a bumper cover off of RockAuto for around $45 or so. However, those bumpers won't be painted, only primed, and definitely not the color of his car.

You can get the whole car painted at MAACO for $275, but really since your car is that old getting your bumpers painted the rest of the car is going to look dated, you need to shoot the car as a whole IMO. Other wise your going to have really nice non scratched shinny bumpers on faded scratched up rest of car 😉

Unless the rest of your car is completely mint.

True, you can get your car painted at Maaco for under $300, but bear in mind that you get what you pay for. If you decide to get the whole car done at Maaco, make sure it's so clean you can eat off it before you take it in. Otherwise, they WILL paint over bird crap and any other dirt that's on your car.

Well I was using them as a example, they start at around $300 and go way up, as well at any body shop, but doing the bumpers he has now or getting new ones and having them shot to match his car is going to look way off if the rest of the car isnt 100% perfect.

Atleast if you go for a complete reshot you get to paint it what ever color you want, just make sure you get the trunk and door jams done as well or its going to look really silly when you paint the car any other color and pop open a door or trunk and its silver 😱

Aren't reshots around 2-3 grand?

Fully repainted is the way to go if you want them to last for the long run. However, you can always get whoever is doing the work to do a touch up... which is much cheaper but not near the same quality nor does it have uniform color. It is hard to match paint that is old. Even if you have the exact paint from the same can, it will look off if the part you are painting is old. That is due to fading and stuff hazing up your clearcoat.

I don't know how much you want those bumpers to be "like new" so it's up to you. Try the cheaper route. If the job doesn't last, then go professional.

For a quality job, yes. This is realyl just a measure of how long you wish to keep this car and how much you love it.

$275 respray? Go for it if yuo want to keep the car for 2-3 years and trash it. It's almost guranteed to peel off after 3 years.

Have some time on your hands? Hand prep the car yourself until it's perfect and then bring it in for a Maaco SIGNITURE (2 coat instead of singe coat seperating spray) respray for a pretty nice job.

Or you can just pay someone ~3k to redo the whole car.
