YACT: how long does motor oil last?

i have some motor oil from 4 years ago unused .. dont ask how.. is it still usable?

Oil is oil, use it. As far as how long is it good? It has been in the ground for quite some time before you aquired it.

i thought it would break down after a few years in a bottle

It only breaks down in the engine.
