it came on yesterday and i just spoke with a dealer and they said it comes on every 5,000 miles. Its for the idiots who dont keep track of their car maint.

I do my own oil changes and tire rotations and will not have a dealer do it and spend 100 bucks for it. Does anybody know how i can reset the light?

My old Integra had that stupid light. Came on every 7,500 miles. As if I don't know how to maintain a car or as if I'm gonna pay my dealer all the time for simple, routine maintenance.
Anyway, check your owners manual, but there is probably a little push button under the steering column someplace, probably near the OBDII diagnostic plug-in.

i dunno if its the same for toyota but on my Legend theres a little slot where you stick the key in and it resets the maint light.

On my 1999 Accord, you turned the key ON-OFF three times while holding in the tripmeter reset button. It said it right in the owners manual.

When the light came on in my 2001 Trooper, I looked in the manual. Nothing. Tried whatever I could think of. Nothing.

Took it into the dealer. Bad O2 sensor. Fixed under warranty. Never did ask them how to turn it off. I think in some vehicles you must hook up the diagnostic analyzer to shut it off. Don't have one of those!!! ($$$$$)

Some cars have a reset tool you plug in. I know my wife's old BMW did. Why don't you just call the service department and ask them?

*tsk* CMon, man! You KNOW they are going to say "That requires a specialized Flux Capacitor Memory Bank Blanking Tool; it's very expensive and you need training to use it. Why don't you bring it in and we'll have a look at it?"

just got back from the dealer. here is how to do it.

with the car off. make sure the on the odometer is showing the odometer not the A or B trip counter. Press and hold the reset then turn the car on. a series of 4 bars will show on the odometer that count down, when the count down is done the Maint Req light is reset.

and that was not in my owners manual.
