YACT: How do you change plugs on a DOHC?

I have a 2002 stratus V6 DOHC and I need to replace the plugs, but the whole DOHC thing is throwing me. Anyone have any experience with this car or the 2.7L V6 Chrysler engine? I have already tried allpar and Stratus websites, but they are more interrested with rims than repairs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Buy a haynes or chilton's manual.
Usually, you just get a long extension with a spark plug socket on it, and stick it in the hole ;)

take it out like how you take out a SOHC.

Pull the plug wires, put in your sparkplug socket and maybe extension.. and then loosen the plugs..

it probably doesn't even need plugs.

As other said, do! There was a debate a while back over the benefits of anti-seize. I'd advise, based on that, that if you're using copper plugs don't bother with AS. If you're using platinum with the long change interval you can find that thread, read it, and decide for yourself.

Many people put dialectric grease on the end of the plugs (you can buy a small packet for $.99 from autozone) to help with contact.

You're forgetting that most ATers have precious little experience sticking things in holes. :p

Oh and dump the Champion plugs :p

Go with some NGK's or even ACDelco

With my supcharger I have to change em once a year as the contact just gets worn down fromt he heat and harsh conditions.. I have put ACDelco, Champion, NGK, and Autolite through it so far.. I'm going back to the NGK TR6 as it was the best, followed by the AC's, the Autolites were allright, but the Champions had 2 of the 8 cracked in the porcelin.

I have changed my share of plugs before, so it's nothing new. I figured it was a deep well and I already have an extender. The problem is, I can only visably see 3 plug wires facing towards the front of the engine block. Then there is, what looks like a forced air system laying on the back side of the engine. I assume the engine is a V rod design which places the other 3 plugs in the back side, but I didn't want to go pulling parts off the engine without reason.

Also the reason I am replacing the plugs is because this car is a stop-n-go daily driver with around 40k on it. If you follow the manual, it says to replace these every 30k or so. I normally replace mine every other summer on the cars I own. This is the GF's car and I am planning on doing a winter tune-up before the snow hits. So there :p

2002 seems kind of early to change plugs if you ask me. How many miles?
My car had NGK platinum spark plugs that I changed at 100K.

Was going to find a chiltons, but the friggin local library is under construction. Maybe I can find another one that has the 2002 in so I can get it out. Too cheap to pay for it. :)

Around 40k or so. And pretty much everything is original stock in it. Since I don't know how hard the engine was run and this kinda work has not been done on it, I figure I would put a good set in there for her. Never know how bad those jokers at the plant monkey'd it up :)

My max has the NGK platinums, and they are great. Accept no imitation. They are pricey, but worth every penny, exp since you change them once every 100K miles.
