'77 Mercury Marquis.

Horrible body.
Horrible weatherstripping.
Badass big block engine.
MASSIVE trunk.

Perfect for demolition derby usage. Now the question is - how do I sell it?

$400 OBO. There is a battery for it, and hornets appear to have taken up residence in the wheel wells, door jambs and trunk - they came after me when I slammed the hood shut :p

The bug problem is easily taken care of by cold weather or a few brave souls with chemical weapons.

That car is too good for a demo derby. If I had the time, I'd buy it and put some elbow grease into it.

The paint is terrible, but the actual body, unless there is a lot of rust that does not show up in the pictures, looks remarkably good.

I've owned two of the same vintage. If it's a 460ci, with not too many miles, it might be worth keeping it rolling. The 400ci isn't a favorite of mine. Do all the windows and seats work? If the A/C is working, I'd keep it for sure! It's got more standard type parts than the Town cars of that era. Cheap, too.

If it's running with less than 150,000 miles, it should be worth at least $400.00. I'd just list it in Trading Times or a similar magazine. Perhaps you could donate it to "The Shriners" for a tax write off.

Aw man that's a sweet car!!! My friend Binh would love it... Not to destroy, but for a daily driver!

Why sell it for someone else to drive in a demolition derby? Drive it yourself. You do have a county fair, don't you?

That would be perfect for a lowrider with those jackhammer kind of shocks that make it jump in the air. La cucaracha horn. Oh, man, I want one.

179k miles. And the interior would be better if it didn't exist. It's THAT bad. But the windows work! Not sure which engine though, and I can't find any place that'll let me run the VIN. I'd really love to keep it, but I don't have the time or energy to restore it to somthing you could actually drive around (Hell, I just moved it to the other driveway and found out that it has no brake fluid - whoops - I knew there was a reason I had that "no" sign on the ignition.

Gonna list it locally for $300 - I'm sure some parent would find it funny to embarass the hell out of their kid only to have their kid fix it up into an authentic pimpwagon.

I never denied being a redneck - I have a 1977 GMC Sierra 2500 as my _PRIMARY_ pickup truck. That truck could tow 5 modern 3500 pickups with their E-brakes on. Or at least intimidate them to death.

Put it on the corner, "For Sale 1977 Mobile Home, Needs TLC, $500 OBO"

That is a mobile home right?

;)

If the VIN starts with A, it's a 460ci.. 179K is a bit more that I'd like to see. Sounds like you'll have brakes to bleed, if not repair. No doubt rust has taken it's toll. Hard as hell to bust loose the fittings when it gets too far gone. I'm suprised the interior died. Was it velour or leather? The leather usually holds up forever. This is the leather on my '77, just before I sold it last year.

We're looking at a 'J' VIN, so I've got a 400. And it was a leather interior, but once the weatherstripping went while Gramps had it sitting in his driveway, that changed really quick.

The New Yorker came out unscathed, didn't it?
