I have had a lot of work done on my transmission in the last month, see old POST. I took it in again because i was having the same problems (transmission slipping above 2800 rpm in any gear and clutch fluid leaking) that i had when i took it originally. I told them last time about slave cylinder and asked them to look at it. The replaced my clutch, pressure plate, rear seal, resurfaced my fly wheel and everything else.

They said the slave cylinder and master clyinder were ok. Now two weeks i bring it back to them and the guy calls me 40 minutes later saying that he needs to replace the slave and master cylinders. The funny thing is that after i had it the cylinders fixed they didn't leak and then two weeks after i let these guys look at it, it leaks again. I authorized the guy to replace the slave cylinder only. This really sucks, i really think they are fvcking me over and there isn't anything i can do. I really need some advice. Do i have any legal options? So irritated with all of this.

Can't help you, but if they are ripping you off, why do you keep going back to them?

I don't know the specifics of your case, but I do know that if you get new clutch and your master/slave cylinders are worn, they can't take the pressure from the clutch. Same thing happened to me recently, and after I got the clutch I needed to get a new master/slave (look out LA!) and mine were connected so I needed to replace both, couldn't do just one.

Dunno if you're getting ripped off, but needing new ones after you get a new clutch is legit.

but i just got a new master and a rebuilt slave and they are saying i need both. I can understand the slave but not both.

And i keep going back because they are supposed to be pretty good and gave me a fair price on the clutch job.

That's crap. Most of the time when a clutch goes the pressure plate is still well within spec. The clutch disc will wear out long before a pressure plate will. Granted, it is common to replace the pressure plate as well because of scoring and wear on the contact surface. I noticed zero change in pedal feel when I replaced my stock clutch with a new one (also OEM) and it had 150k on it.

Get a large italian friend. Rent a really nice suit for him and have him walk in there with you. Have him ask a bunch of irritating questions and throw around the F word a lot in a thick accent. Also have him mention something vague about dead bodies or something. It might just work.

They're just screwing you over. I would go to a different shop. Hell, at this point I would take it to the dealer (if I wasn't mechanically inclined). The hydraulic system for the clutch is so simple a high schooler could fix it. BTW, if its only two weeks don't they have any sort of warranty? I'm starting to becoming quite suspicious of this shop. BTW, where are you located?

The only reason i authorized the slave cylinder was because it wasn't done right the first time. If they say it is anything more after the slave cylinder i will take it to another shop. There is a warranty but it only applies to the work done ( parts and labor). I would take it back to the first shop that worked on it but they are in northern california and i am in SoCal ( San Diego area), so i am S.O.L. there. He said it should be done today so i guess i will wait and see...

Manual transmissions don't slip. Clutches do. ;)

I doubt you have any legal recourse. My advice would be to take your car to a better shop.

What I don't understand is why a faulty slave cylinder would cause the problems i am having. The mechanic said it was bad hydraulics, but if the hydraulics were bad wouldn't i have a hard time disengaging the clutch not having difficulty with the grab of the clutch? I am fine with the slave cylinder repair but if that doesn't fix it they will want to replace the master cylinder which i know is good. It didn't leak until the replaced the clutch, how can i call there bullsh!t with out getting a new master cylinder? I am so irritated with all of this.

the place that i had the slave and master cylinder replaced said that because we couldn't bring the car in that we could send them the part and they would inspect it and refund us if it was bad. If not they would write us a letter that would could use about the other shop who said it needed to be replaced again. I think i will get what i paid for it just might take me 6-12 months of legal action. Oh well, we shall see.
