I'm looking at a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD w/Nav. MSRP on it is $36,504. What do you think I should have to pay for it?

wow, cars direct says :
MSRP Price: $36,040
Invoice Price: $32,684
Target Price: $30,984

Is this a Honda, or an Oldsmobile?

Honda Pilot.

Also, the $35,604 includes the destination charge, so would that put the target to $31,448 or do you try to get them to waive that.

don't worry about whether they "waive," the charge, just worry about the price you pay relative to the total asking price the vehicle (which obviously includes the charge). if they knock off $500, they knock it off, regardless of whether they call it the "destination charge" or just a discount.

$36k seems super high for any honda.

Are you sure you want to foot the bill for this high-profit margin station-wagon for Honda?

I personally think the CRV is the only Honda "truck" worth buying for the price.

I emailed them and got a Costco price of $31,504. That's $4500 off MSRP. I feel pretty good about that. I would consider the CR-V but I don't like it's small 4-cylinder engine. I looked up a 5 year old pilot and it is worth about $20k, so it would lose around $11k over those 5 years. My parents bought a 1996 Ford Explorer 5 years ago that lost $7k over the same period. That doesn't seem like an extreme increase in depreciation for a brand new over a 5 year used.

Hey, if you get a super good deal like that... then it's worth considering. That can be said about any vehicle, though.

Maybe look around some more?

Seriously, the RAV4 dominates the small SUV market with their V6 IMO.

we just got on 07 pilot exl. we needed the rear camera so we had to get the nav system too. we absolutely love it. we needed the upgrade since we were getting crowded with 2 car seats in our old rav4. we paid $36k after all fees, taxes, etc.

we got a quote at carsdirect.com and dealers emailed/called us with their prices. we went with the closest place that could beat the carsdirect.com price.

Funny thing, is that cars direct is not franchised or affiliated with the factory in any way. Guess where they get the vehicles? Dealers! They are a buying service, nothing more.

Maybe I'll look in to the RAV 4. Last night I read that they are redesigning the 08 Pilot and taking design ques from the 07 Acura MDX (which I LOVE.) So I'll probably hold off until that comes out. I'm sure it won't look just like an MDX, but if it is close...
