Or the Musranger (RanStang?)

We recently installed a 2.3L 4 banger from a 82 Mustang into a 83 Ranger. We have pretty well blocked off all of the Vacuum leaks and things are going pretty well, except for the accelerator to Transmission linkage. Both were Automatic so the linkages are close. Looks like the Mustang had a linkage that rested on the throttle and was pushed along. The Ranger oth had a spring loaded assembly which apparently followed the throttle. I have had to adapt the Mustang carburetor (We kept the 2 barrel carb and its intake manifold) to the Ranger linkage. I have a 90 deg shelf bracket with an adjustment screw attached to the linkage which seems to make good contact.

We occasionally have trouble shifting at 55mph with this assembly, the transmission cannot decide which gear it wants to be in, will stutter between gears, until it finally decides on high, good to go after that.

Is this just a case of more adjustment or do I need to rethink the linkage altogether

Not sure if there is any way you could possibly help me with this info, so any input will be welcome.

That is a very good question, it is a 3 speed in the Ranger, not sure what the Mustang had.

Thanks for your reply, and the link.
