Well, you can't really make a decision yet without that information. But with what you told us, I'd go with the MR2, just because it's not as old as the Porsche and it probably has fewer miles.

Not dissing the MR2, but the porsche would be a better choice i think. It's a beautifully styled car and gets lots of looks.
I talked to a guy with a 944 that he was fixing up. He was so passionate about it. He was going to put a new engine in it and everything.

Is the porshce in good shape ?

Just remember, parts for an older Porsche will cost you an arm and a leg if you need new ones, something to keep in mind.

The NA 944 should be a fairly reliable car actually. Once you go turbo the costs go way up tho. That said, get the MR2 and get the turbo engine for it:)

Neither get a Ferrari from the early 90s. It would be just a little more money but it looks so much nicer

You live in Zenmervolt's area, If you go for the Porsche, talk to him. He drives a 924.

There is required maintenance on a 89, 944S2. So a documented history is a must and at three owners
that history can get pretty thin. For the Porsche two owner only for me.
The Porsche is the better balanced of the two and will do well in wet conditions.

The MR-2 na can be easily modified for more hp, does not suffer from neglect and is desirable.
It will get tail happy in the wet, has less storage space and a cramped cockpit for those of us over 6'.

I would go for the Porsche myself, as I do all my own repair but for paint & machine work. (968 coupe :p)

As a daily driver you can neglect the MR-2 and still be OK. Its a toss-up if you gotta ask :)

NOTE: halik I've been researching 944S2 and 968 for the last month. If you want the links I have
PM me.

Maintenance on the MR2 will be so much better than the 944 it's not funny. The 944 is not a bad car, but it demands meticulous attention to the maintenance schedule. If that is done, it will last forever. If that's devited from _at all_ the car does Very Expensive Bad Things RIGHT NOW.

Unless you are planning on going over the 944 with a fine-toothed comb, get the MR2.
