ok so far her choices are:
honda civic EX

mazda 3

she had more but i talked her out of them because of price. so what would you choose? i will add any other cars to the poll that are mentioned but keep it reasonable.

of the two i'd pick the mazda3. if mazda3 is out of the question i'd buy a corolla. if im on a tight budget i'd get a used elentra or altima.

i say mazda3

i just bought mazda3 about 20days ago,

was thinking about either corolla or civic, then i test drove mazda3 and made a decision right there.

maybe it's just me but i think it handles better than corolla or civic, and had better interior too,

pricewise, hmm...i'm not sure

but i really like it so far.

I like the mazda3, but i'd also check out the Tc if you don't need the 4 doors. Might also check out the sentra and corolla, howver i think you'll find you like the 3 over most of its competition..

of those two, the 3. Not that the civic is bad either. You'd get better resale value out of it. Jetta... won't last long .. heh.

out of curiousity, what else was she looking for?

thanks for all the input so far. she currently drives a pontiac 6000 which isn't doing too well right now.
we kind of need the four door so the Tc is out unfortunately. good point on the sentra, we'll look in to that one too.

Make a list of requirments and find car that best suits list.

PS: Horse power is not a requirment. Cars are pieces of metal that take you from point a to b.

wouldn't a Masda 3 pricewise compare to an Accord rather than a Civic?

cause if that is the case, Accord.

we looked at an accord first and pricewise the accord base model with no bells or whistles was comparable to the mazda with everything that she wanted.

basically she wants, "a car that looks sporty and has 4 doors." she also wants something that is very reliable.

Civic. This is for a chic, and most chics don't care about coolness factor, get her a reliable car. The civic is a reliable car, the mazda is to new to be certain.

well, I wouldn't buy a civic this year, they are changing the body style next year, and giving it a well needed HP bump, so if you want the Civic, wait a few months... their new model should have some nice offerings

The redesigned Civic will be a 2006, and knowing Honda, it won't be released until January of 2006. If you can wait that long, it would probably be worth it, but just know that it probably won't be available in the summer of 2005 like most domestics.
