So I want to be able to learn about cars. I figure if I'm good with computer hardware, cars can't be much harder, there's just more parts. Anyone have some good sites where I can start learning myself? Assume I'm a complete and total n00b (I really don't know much anyway so I might as well be). Car audio sites would be appreciated too.

And don't give me google, I already know the link ;)

What do you want to know? How in depth? There is only so much reading can teach you. For instance, if you REALLY want to know how the engine works, you need to take thermodynamics, then advanced thermodynamics courses, in addition to Transport Phenomina, Physical Chemistry...

Obviously there's that kinda stuff. I want just the basics, the parts and what they do. From there I can figure out where to go for more specific information.

Step 1: Buy an old 84 Cutlass for 50 bucks that doesn't run and is missing carb
Step 2: Go to a junkyard and find a carb, and any other needed parts
Step 3: Take sh!t apart. Buy a book on the vehicle.
Step 4: Profit.

Alternate method:

Buy two 84 Cutlasses for 100 bucks that don't run, and factory service manual
Take good stuff off of one, replace bad stuff on the other. Consult book/friends/internet with problems/questions.
End up with one working vehicle (if you're lucky) and one parted out mess
Sell parted out mess on Ebay whole, part out further, give to a friend/enemy, or take back to JY
Profit!

For me it was reading anything and everything I could about cars since I was about 5 years old. So 17 years of obsessive reading.

Personally, I never learned (and still do not learn) by reading alone. I need real experience. So when a car breaks down in a new and interesting way, I learn quickly. :p
