YACT: Headliner Replacement

The headliner in my 89 Ramcharger is starting to fall at a pretty quick rate.

Does anyone know of any good methods of replacing headliners? I already checked the dealership and they do not carry that part for my vehicle anymore.

get some spray adhesive, pull down the headliner and re glue it. Finding those fasteners will be a PITA, unless you go to a junkyard.

That will fail again rapidly. You'd need to pull the fabric off, use a stiff brush and take off all the foam, and then glue it back down. Just find a local body shop, they'll recommend someone in the area who does it.

not if he uses foam adhesive.

You take it to an upholstery shop; they probably do this type of repair all the time.

Or you get some of those upholstery tacks; they look like corkscrews, and tack the liner back up.

tacks++

looks awful tho...or you could try to re-adhesive it...

i think theres a place aroudn where i live...like 50$ bucks to get it red0ne.

If you reglue it, the glue will come through the fabric and will look worse. Just have some pros do it. Otherwise, remove the headliner board, take off the cloth, scrape off all the foam, then buy some new foam back fabric from an auto upholstery shop by taking a scrap of your old headliner with you to match.

Then, buy some spray glue, spray down the headliner board completely covering it with glue, then lay down the fabric making sure you don't get any wrinkles.

Let it dry, trim the excess of the edges, and reinstall.

You should be able to have someone do it at an upholstery shop for about $75.00.
