ok, on my 2002 honda civic, lx, my passenger side head lamp(the white one) doesn't seem to work anymore. what could be the problem? is it the bulb? when I turn on the high beam, the light works, so it can't be the bulb. what do you guys think? I dont' even know how to take the lamp out........

help.

you got a BLOWN blub..

just replace it..

the bulb has high / low beam on one..so if low beam dont work.. just replace the builb.. i had to do that every year on my tercel.

btw, if you're replacing the bulb, you shouldn't have to take out the lamp housing. just open your hood to access it.

It is the bulb. The bulb has two filiments inside it. The low beam filiment is burned out, but the high beam isn't. You'll still need to replace the entire bulb.

That's good advice. For some reason, that's not obvious to many people. You'll find step by step directions in your owners manual.

You are right. I believe that you may have to squeeze both sides of the socket to remove it from the headlamp. It takes some efforts to replace it, although it shouldn't be too hard.

Just pick up a pack of Sylvania SilverStars while you're at it 🙂 The best headlights for the buck 🙂

some don't. you can't really speak for all cars like that. 🙂

my 91 civic has seperate high/low beam lights. so did my 92 bonneville.

Agreed. I put these on my 95 Prizm shortly after I bought the car and my night visibility improved tremendously. They're only $20 apiece and I've had 'em in for almost 2 years now.

True. I, for one, was speaking for the specific car, an '02 Civic. I had an 89 Civic. It had seperate bulbs for High and Low. I really liked that one, because it was wired such that when the Highs were on, the lows also remained on, giving a nice, even spread of light that illuminated far down the road. My 94 Saturn also had seperate bulbs, but for some reason, the low beams turned off when the high beams were on. I would have rewired the headlights on that Saturn so that they worked like the Civic, had I kept the Saturn long enough.

With a single bulb, dual filiment headlamp, such as on '92 and later Civics, you can't wire them so that the highs and lows are on at the same time, or you would quickly blow the bulb from overheating.
