YACT: Got a flat tire

I just got 4 new winter tires about 3-4 months ago. I was driving on the highway yesterday and say a small black object on the road, but it was too late and i ran over it and heard a loud bang. Less than a minute later my right rear tire was completely flat. I put the spare on, and took it to the garage this morning.

They say the tire is unrepairable and the rim is bent, but they say they can straighten the rim out. The tires are from Canadian Tire, so the garage says they can't order them, but they can put on a similar one. I told them just straighten out the rim and I'll get a new tire from Canadian tire.

Is it ok to get just one new tire, or should I replace both the rear tires? The car is fwd (2001 Corolla). Also is it ok to drive on that rim even though it was bent before?

Better to replace both tires to have even wear on them, or so I'm told.

Edit: Considering how little wear is on the tire though, just replace the one unless you're using them really hard or something.

I would just replace the 1 tire with tires only that old... There would have been very little wear. It would be different if you'd gone a couple seasons on them.

I had Cdn Tire winter tires before my Coopers.. They worked good. 🙂

don't you think you should have road hazard warranty on that unrepairable tire? check it first.

didn't think of that at all! Still haven't replaced it, i'll call the garage.
