My friend just bought a '95 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo AWD 5 spd w/ 90k for $4200. Is this car pretty fast? How reliable are they? I've never really heard anything about these cars, so I was just curious.

1) Chrysler product
2) Pushing 100k miles on a Chrysler product (can you say, clutch/transmission problems?)
3) Twin turbos on a Chrysler product
Yeah, it goes without saying that the car is going to die in the near futureOriginally posted by: conjur

"Although most of the Stealth was designed and built by Mitsubishi, the body styling is unique to the Stealth and was designed by Dodge." Dodge only did minor alterations to the bodywork.

Right...but you can bet the Dodges coming off that assembly line were subject to lesser quality guidelines than were the Mitsus.

conjur give it up, you're wrong dumbass. It's got the same engine as the mitsu, same turbos, same tranny. I'm not sure but there's a good chance the 3000GT's that were sold here were also built on this continent (once again, I'm not sure, and if someoen says they were sent over from Japan I'm not gonna keep saying nope, they were built in the US). Anyhow, you're wrong.
The only downside to the stealth is the back is uglier than the GT. Still a helluva price, and I'd worry a lot more about how hard it was driven than what the badge on the back says, a 3000GT that was driven like a race car for 100k wouldn't be in any better shape than a stealth driven the same way.
STupid head.

Editting my previous post above, it appears that BOTH cars were manufactured by Mitsubishi in Nagoya, Japan. Dodge only designed and controlled the styling, so all internals are Mitsu designed and controlled.
Whether that's a plus or minus, I can't say, but it pretty invalidates Conjur's statements.

<sigh>
you people just don't get it.
DIFFERENT quality levels were more than likely in place. It's very commonplace for vehicles built in the same plant but badged for different mfrs to have DIFFERENT quality standards applied to them.
And, it's not like Mitsubishi was a bastion of high-quality anyway.
And a high-mileage turbo? Two of them?

You make it sound like two cars are coming down the line, and Hop-Sing says to Yung-Ho "Hey this is a Mitsu, let's make sure it's put together right. Then we'll let that second one go right on by us."
I would think it'd be tough to have to distinctly seperate standards in the very same plant.
That was part of my point. Mitsu got slammed in the late '90s for fudging reliability numbers to the Japanese gov't.Originally posted by: conjur

If you read above, you will see that those were recently replaced on the car in question. And a high-mileage turbo? Two of them?
