YACT: Give me some car suggestions

We have roughly $8,000 to spend on my girlfriends new car. So far, i have thought of:

1999 Sentra
1998 Altima
1996 Maxima
1997 Civic
1995 Accord
1998 Grand Prix
2001 Neon
1996 Camry


The GP is mainly because her family is a GM family and the neon is because my family is DC and the head mechanic at DC's Tech. Center is a close friend of my Dad(Super cheap, and he does great work).

We would like to have the car for another 3 year or so since that would put me a year out of college to build a base to work form. What other cars could go in this list? I dont want to get too old of a car, because i dont want her stranded.

The Accord. That's my recommendation.

My vote goes for the '98 Altima. Decent performance for a 4banger, respectable interior room, reliable, and cheap to repair.

If I had another $2,000 to play with when I purchased a car earlier this month, I would have gone with an altima. Instead, I ended up buying a Camry. I'm not unhappy with my decision at all, it's just that I feel that the altima offers more bang for the buck.

Damn. The Altima is great bang for the buck. I just think Accords are the best.

there was a 1996 Maxima for $6900 with 50000 miles on it, but it sold before i had the opportunity to get it

The question is very hard to answer. Overall condition includeing mileage should be the deciding factor imho....
