YACT: Getting a title for a car

I'd perfer to sell it (or give it depending on how much to get the title) to someone who needs it rather than trash it, i have friends that have offered to blow it up, roll it, part it out, ect...

If I can't sell it whole, ill probably end up parting it out..
 
This is my understanding...when you sell a car the seller mails in something to the DMV and bingo the title transfered.

unless thats what she gave your sister :S

You release interest in car... but you still need to bring in a signed title to get it in your name...

Replace lost title

To replace a title:

1. Complete and notarize an Affidavit of Loss form. If there is a lien holder on the title, the lien holder must apply for the duplicate title.
2. Submit the completed form:
* by mail with a check or money order for $9 to:
Department of Licensing
PO Box 9909
Olympia, Washington 98507-8500
OR
* in person at any vehicle licensing office with cash or a check for $9 plus service fees.

Your duplicate title will be mailed to you in 8-10 weeks.

they are fvcking stupid. you get a open title. never go turn that into the DMV, never Get insurance and do not get legal tags? fvck how have you managed to not kill yourself by now?

pity nobody wrecked the car. that would be a good story to tell the judge heh

you need to complete and notorize the Affidavit of loss form. which is:

Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest
The Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest may be used two ways:

To replace a lost, stolen, or destroyed title
Use this form to replace your Washington Certificate of Ownership (title) if it has been lost, stolen, or destroyed.

Note: You do not need a replacement title to release interest in a vehicle or vessel you are selling, trading, or giving away to a Washington resident.

To apply for a new title
You may use a notarized Release of Interest form instead of a signed Certificate of Ownership when applying for a new title for a vehicle or vessel.

All legal and registered owners shown on the title must sign the Release of Interest to transfer the title to the new owner. If the form is signed in the presence of a licensing agent, the agent can certify the signatures and you do not need to have the form notarized.

so this still would be useless to the guy. since he does not know where the person who is on the title is to sign it.
