After filling my tank I noticed a steady drip drip coming from the seal where the fill tube enters the tank. When I take this in to get fixed, will they need to empty the tank? If so, do you get that gas back? It's a '99 Mustang.

If it doesn't drip while you drive it, just drive it until the tank is almost empty before taking it in for service. They shouldn't need to "drain" the tank just to replace that. Usually the filler neck comes out of the tank easily.

I would think you would get your gas back because they cannot just throw it away. It's illegal.
This is the case for oil, and I would guess it is the same for gas.

If they can replace the filler neck without dropping the tank, then they won't need to drain it. If they have to drop the tank, they'll have to drain it. I'm not sure why you're concerned about a few gallons of gas.

think... if they take away your gas, how will you get the car out?

they probably syphon it out then put it back in.

They will syphon it into their own car and put back a gallon maybe 2.

next thing you know, they'll steal your CD's, make illegal copies, then put the bootleg back into your car and take the original.

..it may be just a large friction fit rubber grommet that the filler tube fits into thats easily replaceable. Check a shop manual.

Kidding right?? If thetank needs to be dropped, the last thing you need to worry about is a few dollars worth of gas..
