I dunno what it is about me and taurii....i drove a few cars and this one was just too nice of a ride to pass up...and i ended up getting it 1000 under KBB so all in all seemed like a pretty good deal. as i get to know it more there are a few things like minor scratches and things in the interior, but the owner before me was put down as "corporate fleet vehicle" and it was well taken care of...the leather is perfect...the paint is glossy...the engine appears like it was never abused and regularly maintained...in amazing condition for being a 98 i think. The biggest problem is its unable to have a new stereo installed. has the mach audio system but i'd like to replace with my system from old car but cant since the main panel is all in one design with the climate controls :-/
Well just wanted to show off...feeling a little silly for getting a more flashy version of my old car....but im just in love with the bull 😀

BTW if anyone is interested in purchasing a car and is around the Tucson area Go check out the Jim Click Nissan in the Tucson Auto Mall by the Tucson Mall and ask for Charles Nash and tell him Chris Duke sent ya 😉 he was a pretty decent guy to deal with and puts on a pretty good act as well as far as car sales people go. Hes also an ex college football player (who was pretty good...played at my university) which made him a pretty down to earth guy to talk to.

those DOHC engines are way better then the standard taurus. i have an 03 taurus and it is soo sluggish takeing off. But i drove a 24valve DOHC one and it was better.

im sure you can find some sort of conversion kit for the stereo. i used to have an 88 beretta and it had the radio and a/c controls all on one panel thingy and my mom's bf found a kit to make it work.. look around online?

My friend used the kit Black88GTA listed above. I just installed a Pioner 7500mp in it last weekend in an '00 taurus.

What you need.

Kind of pricey though. $60. Damn.

Well, I'm sure it can be found for half that from somewhere other then Crutchfield😉

Heh...true, but I knew they'd have it, so I looked there 😛

I agree, a more thorough search would probably turn it up somewhere else for a lot less. 🙂

Don't mind me. I'm just a bit bitter since I bought my first HU from them. I was worried about installation and stuff. Now that I know how easy this stuff is, no more overpaying for me. I think my HU was $320. I found it a few months later for $200🙁

Heh, I actually lucked out with mine...they had a HU I wanted on closeout for $280 a few years back (was $300+ everywhere else I looked). Rockford Fosgate w/motorized face, MP3 (fairly shortly after MP3 became available in car decks), 3 sets of preamps, and copper shielding. I found one on the "open box" portion of their site for $230 IIRC, so I got that. The face stuck, so I called em about it and they rushed me a brand new one for the same price, express shipping paid both ways 😀. They are usually pricier on average, but every once in a while they'll have some really good deals.

Their customer service is absolutely unbeatable though. I've yet to hear anyone have any complaints about Crutchfield's CS, and my own experiences with them have been top notch.

Nice, another Taurus owner.

Check out the Taurus Car Club if you haven't already. Also I'd recommend taking off the intake silencer right away as it's pretty quick and easy.

I picked up a '99 Taurus SE back in Feb for $6,800.

Featured the following:
- 40,000 miles
- 24V engine
- 6 CD Mach sound system
- Leather interior
- Cruise / AC
- Power seats
- Anti-lock brakes
- Alum. wheels
- Sunroof
- Remainder of the Ford ESP 60K warranty

Picture of mine: '99 Taurus SE

So far, it has been a great car. I do a lot of combined driving (city/hwy) - and get 20 MPG. This vehicle just serves as my work vehicle. We purchased a new '02 Mazda Millenia for the family vehicle.
