YACT: Fun, fast car suggestions for 15-22(23max) price range...

I think I may be in the market for a second car come christmas... wondering what else I should consider other than the 05 Mustang GT... budget is 15-22,23k... of course, I have my 99 v6 mustang right now which I have no intention of getting rid of and will continue using for daily activities.... I'm just looking for a car to be my "non-beater, play car" Looking at the new 05 pics, unless the 300hp, manual transmisson and jag platform really blow my doors off, I think I might be better off with something totally different....

YACT: MR2 Spyder.... anyone ever owned or driven?

what else in this category would be worth looking at... I want a faster and more fun driving experience for highway and crazy backroads. Practicality is not necessary 🙂

thanks for ideas

Edit: Better title

well it looks like you have 23k to play around with.
Get rid of the V6 Stang atrocity and you'll have 25k to play around with 🙂

to both of you.... why? 😕

1) not getting rid of current car... it's fast, fun, useful and I can run it into the ground without the 11-12 mpg practial mileage a GT manual mustang will get in daily, urban use

2) I had a 97 subaru legacy AWD back in the day. 2.2L. Not enough pickup for highway passing (I should compare that to the mr2 for 60-80 speeds, shouldn't I). Good for snow, best beater money can buy... for a Subaru to classify as a toy... it's going to be way out of my price range.

Neeext!

Dude, the MR2 has what, 120, 130 HP? It's pitiful. Look at a used Honda s2000, it doesn't differ from the MR2 in practicality (or lack of it), but it handles better and has one hell of an engine.

The S2000 is you best bet at that price point.

MR2's were never about straight line performance, they are total cornering cars. Plus, they'll out-brake pretty much any other sports car out there 😉

I say you get a Mk2 MR2 turbo and put the extra money into souping it up. That will be a ridiculously fun weekend car which will out-corner, out-brake, and out-accelerate pretty much any stock car.

...and he will out spin himself when he lifts during heavy cornering... 😛 😉

The problem I have with the MR2 (besides the fact that I find it rather ugly, but that's subjective) is the utter lack of storage space. Even for a non-practical car, the "trunk" is microscopic.
