YACT: Ford Taurus + trailer + hot day = bad.

Lol! Transmission cooler, ftw. All of our cars with autos have always had transcoolers. Even the crappy Taurus we had when we lived in Fl. I don't know if my dad's truck has one, but it probably does, because it has a heavy-duty towing package. Your friend should get one, it might help the trans live a few more years.

Were you BannedTroll? If so, PM me with your info to confirm that and I will personally either mail you out a CD or refund your paypal. My drummer was in charge of mailings and I forwarded your info to him, but I guess he didn't do his job? If so, I'm really sorry about that, we certainly weren't trying to screw you. These days we do our CD sales through retailers to avoid these kinds of fvck-ups. How embarrasing. 😱

I doubt the Tore-ass/Sore-ass would have even handled the trailer and human load even WITH a large transmission cooler. They just wren't well built cars to start with, and were never designed to tow a trailer...

Where exactly was it spilling the fluid from? You didn't bother to look? I have never seen a transmission blow up and dump it's fluid unless it was catastrophic, but I've seen them lose their fluid in a leak (radiator, lines running to radiator x2, transmission cooler, hole put in pan) and blow up.

LOL, it reminds me of a niece's stupid fiancee. They had a new <tempo, escort, insert some ford compact here>, and he was saving money by doing the first oil change.
He drains the manual tranny(oops), inserts plug, and adds 4 more quarts to the poor engine😛
Then they tried driving it, fixed the overfull engine oil but left the tranny to run dry:laugh:

gee, thanks for all the support, guys! :| 😉

Why put the cliffs after all the boring text?

so you can avoid the boring text. duh.

we weren't able to look any closer than that it was from the rear of the engine compartment. we don't exactly carry around ramps everywhere we go (though it might not be a bad idea from now on!). we believe it was just boiling out of the overflow. when we refilled it later on, it didn't leak at all.

Pouring oil in the engine without checking the level first? Are you people stupid?

when you're pulled over on the side of a 70 MPH freeway with semi's blasting past you, miles from anywhere (GPS confirmed), with the sun beating down on you, no roadside assistance to call, and limited water, you just want to get the heck out of dodge. plus we were freaking about the show since we were already running late. Jiffy Lube has been known to ruin more than a few oil plugs. but yeah, this was one of our many obvious errors for the day. 🙂 at any rate, having too much oil is the least of that car's problems. 😉

how much power does a taurus have?

not much, but power wasn't the problem here. even the brakes were ok with the load. just that pesky tranny.

That's why they're called "garage bands"; you're not supposed to be hauling your equipment around the country...

point taken. 😀 we've played in a couple garages but we've also shared practice buildings with the likes of AFI, Suicidal Tendancies, Machine Head, Rancid, Stroke 9, etc. and since most decent clubs require breather space between gigs in any given area, you need to branch out in order to play enough shows. with most bands, it is expected that will have toured extensively before you even get signed. green day toured the nation like 6 times before they got anywhere...
