M4H posted some pics of N00bs who do not deserve to have these lights, that get included in the rant, if you can't control your sh!t you don't deserve it! ;)

Ahh, you didn't insult anyone directly. Weak use of facts to back up your rant. 3/10

Seriously though, see if you can ride in a HID(genuine) equipped car. The difference in visability is amazing, everything is in true color and the contrast is enhanced.

Been driving for over 15 years without them, many of them on dark roads in the rocky mountains and still retain a perfect drivig record, and have never once said "I wish I had brighter lights"

Repetition of above request to ride in a properly HID-equipped vehicle and report back. :p

No way you can say there isn't a huge difference.

They help that's why. We don't have LOTS of things from way back when that help us out now.

most of the time, the problem is with the setup of hid's, and not actually hid's, but 100w super duper blue blueberry BULBS.

Am I the ONLY one who thinks HID's are easier to look at than regular lights? I'd much rather pass a BMW with HIDs then some moron who's driving at night with his brights on.

I even wear contacts and have an astigmatism, so in theory HIDs should bother me the most.

if aimed properly hids will not blind on coming traffic, that is unless the hid equipped vehicle happens to be an suv.

I find the white genuine HIDs easy to look at, they don't cause you to squint as much as highbeams of Halogen. It's the fake ones like someone mentioned that are so overpowered its like 30 watts more then a highbeam halogen.

I don't see what the big problem with HIDs are. If they are real HIDs that have been property aligned I don't think that they are bad at all.

Agreed.

It's those damn DRLs that *I* hate! Esp. on Saturns! :|

Could someone explain HID lights to me? Being a computer geek I know very little about cars. I assume they are something like those cars with the bright white headlights as opposed to the normal yellowish.

Maybe I need to go stand infront of a fake HID and a real HID car then get back ;)

I've never had a glare problem with oncoming HID headlights, they're far more benign than the vast majority of halogens which are mis-aligned.

I think we should get rid of the sun too. Damned light gets in my eyes. ;)

I agree with MrBond. I find them easier to look at.

yea man, get your vision checked. Most likely the blurring is because you dont have good vision.
Real HID's are fine with me, halogens are a lot worse.

People said the exact same thing when I first strapped the surplus helicopter searchlights to the grill of my Maibatsu Monstrosity

What are the advantages of XENON HID technology over traditional halogen bulbs?

More light output
A 35-Watt XENON HID lamp produces up to 3x the lumens at the light source when compared to a 55-Watt halogen bulb.

Whiter light
While the halogen light appears yellowish, the XENON HID lighting system produces a light that is closer to that of natural sunlight.

Increased Visibility
In most nighttime driving/bad weather situations, this combination of a whiter color and a greater light output allows for a safer and more illuminated drive.

Reduced power consumption
XENON HID lamp systems draw significantly less power from your vehicles electrical system.

Greater product life
XENON HID lamp systems are designed to outlast your vehicle. On average these bulbs will last 3-5 times longer than a traditional halogen bulb.

Also, they have a cut-off level whereas, in older lighting systems, the light would "bleed" higher and into oncoming driver's eyes. I believe this technology started in Europe, so the light would cutoff at a certain height to lessen blinding oncoming drivers.
