So while I was getting some minor work done on my 97 dodge ram 1500 (2WD), they said my brake fluid was at HALF the appropriate level. Now, assuming the worst (I know they said something about sending in parts to a machine shop), about how much do you think this would generally run?

another not-enough-info post ....
when will you car-idiots get it through your pointy little heads that you need to give some info to get some help.
are you looking at all 4 wheels?
4 wheel disc?
or 2 disc 2 drum?
why is the fluid level low?
leaking?
bad master cylander?
do the rotors and/or drums need to be turned or replaced?
are you going to do the labor?
etc....

its 2wd, thats the extent of my knowledge. And since I obviously don't know jack, I am not going to be doing the labor.

Low brake fluid can be a sign that your disc brake pads are worn. As your brake pads wear the pistons are pushed further out of the piston bore. The volume inside the caliper piston bore is filled with the fluid from your master cylinder resulting in lower than normal condition.

Or you could have a leak.
