My nephew's wife was driving my car and backed into another car in a parking lot. Apparently, it put a small dent (I'm guessing the size of like a smaller cell phone) and scratched the paint a bit.

I'd like to handle this w/o going thru insurance, if possible, as my rates are finally decent and I'm getting ready to add a 16 year-old on my policy so I don't need higher rates right now!

Anyone got a W.A.G. on what it would be to fix the woman's car? I've not seen it so I can't give any more details than that.

Type of car?

You're probably looking at panel replacement, in which case it could be quite a bit.

Was it a body panel or just the bumper?

If it was a body panel, how the F*** did she manage that?

The woman called me on the phone and said it wasn't the bumper...it was the 'rear fender'.

I dunno...I couldn't imagine replacing the whole rear quarter panel over a parking lot ding.

These sound similar (I hope)

Q. Someone opened a jeep door and dented the rear side panel (ie. not the door, but the very rear side) of a 2001 Toyota Camry. The whole affected area is no larger than a nickel, with less than 1/8 inch depth, possible paint damage. How much to fix?
150.00 aprox

Q. I have a 3-4" dent with about a 1/2" depth in rear quarter panel with paint scratched. How much would this cost?
150.00 aprox

I had a dent/gouge fixed in my hood, it was about the size of a quarter. Cost $225 to have it rubbed out, painted/blended, and clearcoated. $200-300 would be my guess depending on how bad it is.
