Tried searching for estimate, cost, hours couldn't find anything, and I'm not going to wade through the thousands of threads looking for that little piece of information that I need!

Anyway, if I remember right, someone referred to a site where you could find out approximately how long certain types of repair take. (or approximately how much the repairs should cost, but that'll vary since labor costs vary from area to area)

That's it. Just where do I find out these things (if anyone knows)
Thanks!

(problem, if anyone needs to know, is 93 Ford Escort, 130K, blown head gasket. (4 cylinder) And, garage is saying a thermostat too. )

Hmm..... no response in 45 minutes... I'd have sworn that there was a site that a few people referred to in other YAC threads

Head gasket = expensive. Most likely over $1000. if not, damn close to $1000. You basically have to tear the entire top of the engine apart, it takes a while. I would jsut junk an 11 year old escort and get a newer car rather than fix a blown head gasket on one.

I don't know of any sites online, but your library probably has a book that has all the info you need. Of course its hard to get to the library with a blown head gasket. :disgust:

If the repair costs a considerable portion of your car's value, it's time to take advantage of the low interest rates..

Book time is 3.2 hrs to R&R Cylinder head gasket. Add an additional .2 for the thermostat and maybe an hor for diagnosis.
