(YACT) E-shift question

I have an IS300 with E-shift and I've noticed that sometimes when it is very cold (20f of less) that I can't shift all the way down to 2nd until the car warms up.
Is this normal?

If you can do it when it is warm, then I am going to guess and say, "no, that is not normal". but since I have no information on the e-shift trannys, it is just a guess.

Thanks.

from what I understand e-shit and other like them, its just an automatic tranny with a new feature that allows you to manualy select the gears. And since its a auto tranny it still applys to auto tranny specs and rules. so yes this is normal

it's normal that he can not shift to first? 😕 Or am I reading that wrong?

Perhaps it's a feature to keep from over-revving a cold engine in too low a gear.

Or perhaps not 😉

In alot of auto trannys it will not go into low gears ultil the fluid is at a certain temp. So since this a auto with a new feature but still an auto(and shifting is still controlled by the tranny) yes.The computer controls shifting and it is programed not to shift into first
until a certian fluid temp this would explain his situation.

PS all this is comming from my mechanic neighbor. He also said that if you try and redline in 1st it would automaticly shift to second before redline even if in e-shift mode.

You can only shift as low as 2nd gear with the E-shift under any circumstance.

It is normal, it prevents you from over-revving the enginer when its not properly operated at the suggested temperature.

AND yes, you can't manually shift to the 1st gear, but the vehicle automatically shift 1-2 or 2-1 when it see necessary
