YACT: E-Brake dash light intermittently on

Sometimes while driving it will come on and then turn itself off a few mins later. The brake itself seems to work ok still. Engaging and disengaging the e-brake does not solve the problem.

My guesses:

- faulty brake engage sensor/contact
- low brake fluid?
- Could a recent replacement of all 4 tires have anything to do with this?
- Evil axle gremlins that build nests in my truck's undercarriage and take pleasure in my frustration

I'm hoping its something simple, stupid, and cheap. Any ideas appreciated. TIA

might need some sort of brake adjustment or they messed up your rear breaks when they changed the tires.

My car puts on the brake light whenever i'm low on brake fluid and I accelerate heavily.

Check your brake fluid.

So if the light comes on and you like jiggle the handle or raise/lower it, that does not affect the light at all?

If that's the case, I guess check the fluid level.

The brake fluid is on the edge of the minimum mark and vibrations are triggering the light because the sensor float is bouncing around a little. Chances are that this indicates worn brake pads (as the brake pads wear, the pistons in the calipers don't retract as much when you let off the pedal, which means that more fluid stays in the brake calipers and this makes the level in the master cylinder get lower).

Check your fluid level, if it's low, check your brake pads. Chances are you just need to have the pads replaced and the system flushed and filled.
