If anything it's better than other methods.

Oh yeah...forgot about automatics. Been awhile since I drove one of those. :)

If it was bad for the car then why is it there in the first place?

I don't understand your viewpoint? Using the handbrake putting unncessary stress on the mechanism?

I always do this too, but none of my friends do. They give me crap for doing it, after stalling my car when they start it :(

They give you crap when they stall your car? Call them idiots for not using the clutch.

Or for not releasing the brake first.

I only use it on an incline.. tho I'm driving an automatic.. if I had a manual I'd probably use it all the time.

Weird, it stalls when it's not released? Not on my car

Generally, if you let out the clutch while the parking brake is on, the motor will stall. Unless you have a powerful enough motor to overpower the brake at idle.

Yeah, they take their foot off the clutch, thinking that the car is in neutral, because what they do in their car, is what EVERYONE does :/

When I had a car (manual), I always engaged it...though hardly ever left my car in gear, unless it was a steeeeeeep incline. Never seemed to park on many of those.

Always do, that's what it's for! I only leave the car in gear if on a steep hill, 1st if facing uphill, reverse if downhill.
