YACT: Do any auto parts stores allow you to rent an engine hoist?

I rented an engine hoist once. It sucked because it was like $15 a day IIRC and we would have needed it for a few weeks, plus it was kind of beat up and junky. So, we ended up taking it back after 1 day and going out and buying one. I picked up a folding one for $180 and have used it a few times since then.

If you still want to rent one though, check out local equipment rental places. Some auto parts stores may rent them as well, but I know when I worked at Advance, we didn't have any kind of tool or equipment rental program in place.

I would hate to find out the expensive way that a tree could not hold up the weight of the engine.

Eh, if you need it for more then a few days you'd might as well invest in one. Luckily, I was able to borrow one from the shop my friend works at🙂

Bleh, I've been calling around and the closest place near me charges $25 a day. What a rip. I think I'll just split the cost and buy one with a few friends.
