It's an '88 GMC van. I can take a hood latch off any GMC or Chevy van from... 1970-1993, prettymuch. It's not exactly a rare part. But still a pain in the ass

Trust me on this one:
Make sure you get the repair right.

Nothing like the hood smashing into your windshield at 70mph.
If life were a motion picture being run at 30 frames per second, there would be no frame between the frame where the hood is down and the frame where the hood is smashed against the windshield.

Scared the crap out of me.

The spot on the lid of my hood on my 89 Mustang broke a few years back. The metal was about 1/8-1/4" thick, yet it was worn through. The shop had to fabricate a new one.

Well, this is the first hood latch, the one that you pull from inside the cab. Had to remove the line connected to it (one of those bike-brake type lines) to remove a few parts. When I went to reconnect it (and it usually goes back on just fine) I fvcking broke the clip that the line clips into clean off. So the latch technically still works, but if I were to close the hood with the latch in place, i'd never get it open again.

Dude, you suck at this. Seriously. "You broke your house?" would've been much funnier.
